When you turn thirteen you're supposed to be glamorous, not sad.

It's the night of Cara's birthday and all she could wish for was for her parents to stop fighting and for Jake Clark to finally see her as a girl and not the kid who used to load sand into a bucket when she was five but that didn't seem like it was going to happen. So far so good, there's a lawyer handling her parents divorce papers and Jake Clark is asking someone out to the valentine's day party and Cara knows it could never be her.
